Role overview

The finance knowledge development lawyer will primarily support the finance fee‑earners based in London, working across aviation finance, real estate finance, general banking, leveraged finance and restructuring. The role is key to developing and maintaining knowledge resources, technology tools, and processes that enable the finance group to provide efficient, profitable client service.

Key responsibilities
  • Technical legal
    • Maintain a cutting‑edge knowledge of finance law and practice.
    • Act as advisor and coordinator for the legal opinions committee.
    • Respond to ad hoc general technical queries from lawyers across the finance group.
  • Access to knowledge
    • Develop and maintain finance precedents, practice notes and automated templates.
    • Work with coding experts to automate finance templates.
    • Develop and maintain finance knowledge dashboards on the intranet.
    • Curate knowledge resources for the finance group.
  • Current awareness
    • Produce regular current awareness updates for the finance group.
    • Coordinate cross‑departmental knowledge sharing and keep the finance group updated on relevant developments.
  • Internal training
    • Coordinate, improve and oversee existing finance training programmes, including trainee, associate and rolling finance fee‑earner training.
    • Identify relevant topics, plan training timetables, organise speakers (including external contributors), oversee arrangements and monitor attendance.
  • Innovation and efficiency
    • Assist junior members in establishing efficient working practices.
    • Work with the central knowledge management team to identify efficiencies, process improvements and legal technology solutions.
    • Roll out new processes or legal tech that benefit the finance group.
    • Champion the adoption of new technologies, including GenAI, to streamline workflows and support continuous learning.
