Job summary

A leading law firm in London is looking for candidates for Legal Knowledge and Technology roles. These positions will involve working closely with qualified lawyers and legal technologists on a variety of projects, including knowledge management and legal technology innovations. Ideal candidates will be pursuing a Law degree, possess strong IT skills, and have a keen interest in legal technology. This full-time position requires presence in the London office for at least four days a week.

Qualifications

  • Must be pursuing a Law (LLB) degree with a year in industry.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Strong interest in data and legal technology.

Responsibilities

  • Keep lawyers and clients updated on legal developments.

Position overview

These roles sit across our Knowledge and Innovation teams, located out of the London office. They present a rare and exciting opportunity to work “behind-the-scenes” of a law firm, and get involved in a variety of knowledge and technology projects.

These roles will have a dual focus, as outlined below:

Legal Knowledge Focus

Three/four days a week, these role will support one of the following Legal Departments:

  • Real Estate (which also includes construction and planning groups)
  • Litigation & Investigations (which also includes employment and international arbitration)
  • Corporate & Finance (which also includes Technology and Commercial, and Tax groups)

Under the supervision of the Lead Knowledge Counsel for that department, these roles will provide knowledge-related support across a broad range of legal areas within that department. The support will range from researching changes in the law, or summarising new cases. It will include helping to answer queries from our lawyers, and facilitate legal training to lawyers and trainees.

Legal Technology Focus

Approximately one day a week, these roles will spend time in our Knowledge Solutions and Innovation teams. They will be supervised by the Senior Legal Knowledge and Technology Advisor and will become involved in a range of firmwide legal technology projects (including Generative AI).

Responsibilities
Your Legal Knowledge responsibilities will include
  • Helping keep lawyers and their clients up-to-date on procedural, legal and market developments within your allocated Legal Department
  • Creating and amending intranet pages and generally assisting with maintaining know-how resources/collections
  • Helping run internal legal training programmes and knowledge sessions
    • Assisting with the creation of new templates, practice notes and standard advice, and updating that content to reflect legal, procedural and market changes
    • Helping to prepare client briefing notes/guides, including assisting with social media processes and conflict checks
    • Undertaking legal research and producing guidance and summaries for lawyers to use
    • Assisting on a range of other knowledge projects on-going in the allocated Legal Department from time to time
Your Legal Technology responsibilities will include
  • Participating in innovation/legal technology trials, including testing and promoting AI products
  • Working alongside lawyers to audit content on our firm’s Legal technology systems
  • Actively monitoring lawyer engagement with our systems/processes by collecting usage data and helping to create visualised data reports
  • Testing new legal technology products and providing feedback on functionality
  • Helping maintain legal technology guidance and training resources
  • Providing project admin support as needed to colleagues across the Knowledge and Innovation teams

Travel

These full‑time placements require working with a minimum of four days working in the London office per week. For three of the in‑office days, you will be collocated within your allocated Legal Department. One day a week, you will be co‑located with the Knowledge/Innovation Teams.
