Job summary

TRP Recruitment ltd is partnering with a well-established fashion supplier to recruit an experienced Knitwear Designer for Ladieswear with some exposure to Girlswear. The role offers ownership of the design and development process and requires collaboration with customers, internal teams and overseas factories to deliver trend-led knitwear collections.

You will shape the collections from concept to final sample, leveraging strong CAD skills, yarn knowledge and construction understanding.

Qualifications

• Strong knitwear design and development experience with fashion supplier background.
• Experience across Ladieswear and/or Girlswear knitwear.
• Strong CAD skills and understanding of knitwear construction.
• Commercial eye with ability to translate trends into sellable products.
• Proactive, deadline-driven with strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Manage sampling and development of the critical path.
• Research fashion trends, colour, and market direction to create knitwear ranges.
• Create mood boards, colour palettes and concepts; liaise with Buyers to meet briefs.
• Develop knitwear with understanding of yarn, stitch, gauge, colour, shape and construction.
• Coordinate with overseas factories and mills during development.
• Collaborate with internal teams and customers to ensure quality and cost targets.

Job description

We are working with a well-established, highly reputable fashion supplier looking for an experienced Knitwear Designer to join their creative team, working across Ladieswear with some exposure to Girlswear. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded designer to take ownership of the design and development process, working closely with customers, internal teams and overseas factories to create trend-led, commercial knitwear collections.

Main Duties and responsibilities

• Manage sampling and Development of critical Path
• Research fashion trends, colour, and market direction to create relevant, commercial knitwear ranges.
• Creating mood boards, colour palettes and design concepts, taking designs from initial concept through to final sample. Regular liaison and meetings with Buyers to ensure briefs are met and adhered to
• Developing knitwear with a strong understanding of yarn, stitch, gauge, colour, shape and construction.
• Working closely with overseas factories and yarn mills throughout the development process, reviewing samples and making amendments where required.
• Working with internal teams and customers to ensure products meet the required quality, cost and critical path.

Person Specification

• Strong knitwear design and development experience with previous fashion supplier experience essential.
• Experience across Ladieswear and/or Girlswear knitwear.
• Strong CAD skills and a good understanding of knitwear construction.
• A commercial eye with the ability to translate trends into commercially successful product.
• AI design software knowledge would be beneficial but is not essential.
• Strong organisational and communication skills, with a proactive approach and the ability to work to deadlines.
