Job summary

Slug And Lettuce Solihull/West Midlands is seeking a Kitchen Team Leader to drive day-to-day kitchen operations, coach the team, and uphold high culinary and hygiene standards. You will collaborate with the Kitchen Manager, prepare quality dishes, and mentor staff while maintaining stock and safety compliance.

The role offers a permanent full-time position in a busy kitchen, with opportunities to lead by example and contribute to a dynamic, inclusive hospitality environment.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching and mentoring a kitchen team.
• Strong food knowledge and high culinary standards.
• Up-to-date COSHH, Food Safety and H&S knowledge.
• Willingness to develop personally while advancing the brigade.

Responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation and support the Kitchen Manager.
• Produce high-quality dishes consistently to specification.
• Oversee the kitchen team in the Kitchen Manager's absence.
• Assist with stock management, ordering and supplies.
• Maintain excellent cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
• Offer ideas to improve kitchen performance.
• Lead the team to achieve company targets.

As a Kitchen Team Leader, do you have…

• The ability to assist in supporting, coaching, and mentoring your team
• A high standard of food knowledge and skill
• An up-to-date COSHH, Food Safety, H&S, legal knowledge
• A willingness to develop on a personal level whilst also helping propel the brigade forward at Slug And Lettuce

Some of the things you will be doing as a Kitchen Team Leader

• Assist in food preparation and collaborate with the Kitchen Manager
• Produce high-quality dishes consistently to specification for our guests
• Oversee and supervise the kitchen team in the absence of the Kitchen Manager.
• Assist with stock management, ordering and management of supplies.
• Ensure the kitchen is in an excellent, clean and hygienic condition at all times.
• Offer suggestions and creative ideas that can improve the kitchen’s performance.
• lead the team to achieve company targets.
