Kitchen Porter

Permanent/full time

Salary: £22,768 per annum

Hours: 35 hours per week, including evenings and weekends as required on a rota system

Cirencester, GL7 6JS

As Kitchen Porter you will be a key member of the kitchen team at the Royal Agricultural University working to facilitate the smooth running of the kitchens and food service areas by making sure everything is clean, tidy, safe and hygienic. Additionally, you will assist in the preparation of foodstuffs under the direction of senior chefs.

Key duties
  • Carry out cleaning duties in a timely and safe manner
  • Assisting in food preparation
  • The receiving and organisation of food stocks
  • Maintenance of food‑waste and refuse areas.
Knowledge and skills required
  • Experience of working as a kitchen porter is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.
  • Organised and diligent
  • Attentiveness to customer needs
  • Attention to detail
  • The confidence to make suggestions and recommendations to enhance the department
  • Resourceful, flexible and adaptable and able to use initiative
