Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is hiring for a kitchen assistant within our facilities management team. You will clean and sanitise meal prep areas, wash dishes, receive deliveries, and help with basic food preparation, ensuring equipment and surfaces are ready for service.

The ideal candidate has basic catering knowledge or a certificate, can handle pressure, and is eligible to work in the UK with DBS checks if required. This on-site role offers stable hours Monday–Friday and growth potential.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for cleaning and sanitising all meal prep areas, kitchen walls, stoves, sinks, ovens and grills.
• Wash dirty dishes, cutting boards, utensils and cooking equipment to keep cookware ready for service.
• Receive/unpack deliveries and check against orders; report discrepancies to site manager.
• Organise food and supply storage areas.
• Remove rubbish and manage waste and recycling in the kitchen.
• Assist with basic food preparation when needed.

About The Role

Days of Working: Monday - Friday

As part of your role, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Be responsible for cleaning and sanitising all meal preparation areas, kitchen walls, stoves, sinks, ovens, and grills
• Washing dirty dishes, cutting boards, utensils, and cooking equipment and ensure that all cookware, utensils, and cutlery are clean and ready for service
• Receiving, unpacking all deliveries and checking the delivery against what has been ordered and highlight any discrepancies to the site manager
• Ensure that the food and supply storage areas are organised
• Be responsible for removing the rubbish and emptying of bins, waste, and recycling in the kitchen
• Assisting with basic food preparation when needed

What are we looking for?

• Commercial kitchen experience is highly valued but not essential
• Possess a basic Catering and Hospitality certificate such as Food Handling or equivalent is desired but not essential as we can provide this for you
• Must have basic knife skills, food preparation skills, and time management skills.
• Can work under pressure and excellent organisational skills are also important
• Can stand for extended periods is often necessary due to the physical nature of the job

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

• Must have the Right to Work in the UK
• Must be prepared to undergo a DBS or Enhanced security check
• Good time-management and organisational abilities
