Job summary

J D Wetherspoon is hiring for a potwash role to join a busy kitchen team. You will set up and close down the potwash area, maintain hygiene standards, and support other kitchen stations during shifts. This is ideal for someone who enjoys team work and a fast-paced environment.

The role offers flexible shift patterns across mornings, evenings, weekends and late finishes, with good opportunities to progress through on-the-job training and apprenticeships.

Responsibilities

• Set up and close down the potwash area and support other kitchen stations.
• Follow dishwashing, grease-management and hand-hygiene procedures.
• Clean, polish and store cutlery.
• Manage waste, recycling and deliveries storage.
• Rotate stock; keep fridges and storage areas clean.
• Complete defrost and general cleaning tasks; clean-as-you-go.
• Maintain food storage safety and kitchen cleanliness.

Job description

At a glance, your role is to work as part of a team to set up and close down the potwash area, maintaining it throughout the shift (washing up, keeping equipment available and ensuring that hygiene standards are met consistently). You will communicate with the team to ensure that all required items are available for a smooth and efficient operation.

Our pubs open early and close late, so we offer great flexibility with shift patterns, including mornings, evenings, weekends and late finishes.

Duties include:

• setting up and closing down the potwash area and supporting other kitchen work stations
• following dishwashing, grease-management and hand-hygiene procedures
• cleaning, polishing and storing cutlery
• managing waste, recycling and correctly receiving and storing deliveries
• rotating stock and keeping fridges, freezers and storage areas clean and organised
• completing defrost, preparation and general cleaning tasks, following a clean-as-you-go approach
• maintaining high standards of food storage, safety and kitchen cleanliness
