Responsibilities

  • Wash all equipment used during meals.

  • Perform cleaning duties as directed by the Duty Chef.
  • Assist with salad bar and vegetable preparation tasks as required.

Overview

Pembroke College, Oxford, is seeking a Kitchen Porter to join our vibrant kitchen team. This is an exciting opportunity to be in a vital support role to a professional and friendly brigade that delivers a wide range of culinary services, from informal student meals to prestigious formal banquets.

The successful candidate will work alongside the other members of the kitchen team and be responsible for maintaining the College's standard of cleanliness and hygiene within the kitchen, which includes the wash-up area and kitchen. They will also assist with salad bar and vegetable preparation tasks as required in the mornings, with full training given in this area as appropriate.

The role is full-time, 40 hours per week worked in straight shifts, 5 out of 7 days. Weekend work and overtime work required.

Responsibilities
  • The washing-up of all equipment which has been used.
  • Emptying the food lift of dirty equipment
  • Clean wash-up area sinks and tables
  • Sweep and mop all floor areas
  • Ensure that all waste bins are emptied and bags replaced
  • Any other cleaning duties as directed by the Duty Chef
  • When leaving, ensure that the lights are switched off, that doors are locked as required
  • Assist with salad bar and vegetable preparation tasks as required
  • Follow the correct procedures for the disposal of food waste, and recycling.
