Job description

Class 1 Personnel are Hiring Kitchen Porters for a beautiful Co-educational Boarding School in the southeast of Reading.

Morning and afternoon shifts between (0630 - 0300) or (1130 - 1900) from 5 days a week, starting immediately in the RG45 area.

Convenient access to public transport, with a train station situated close to the site. On‑site parking is available for those who drive. Staff will receive full uniform, and meals are provided during working hours.

Workplace: A large independent education campus located in the surrounding area.

Rate of Pay: £12.25 per hour

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Shift Pattern: 5 out of 7 days

Contract Type: Permanent‑Full Time

Working in a team of 25 chefs in a private school catering to around 1,200 students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understand and follow all back‑of‑house duties such as using machines, washing up by hand, sweeping and mopping floors, emptying refuse bins, and cleaning the kitchen area.
  • Communicate well with your line manager and chefs.
  • Adhere to all responsibilities instructed at the start of your shift.
  • Able to work within a team and independently.
  • Know your chemicals, COSSH, HACCP.
  • Keep your area neat and tidy at all times.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Understanding of English.
  • Friendly and team player.
  • Professional and polite.
  • Able to work within a kitchen and wash up continually throughout the shift.
