Job summary

The Stonegallows Inn in Taunton is seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager to lead a busy kitchen, develop the team and maintain high food quality. You will manage stock, costs and allergen procedures while delivering excellent guest experiences in a Greene King brand pub.

You’ll be responsible for staffing, training and hands-on leadership during peak services, ensuring every dish meets standards and guests leave satisfied.

Qualifications

• Ownership of day-to-day kitchen operations with the ability to lead from the front.
• Experience in busy pub/restaurant kitchens and high-volume service.
• Strong leadership, communication and food safety understanding.

What’s the opportunity?

As Kitchen Manager, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day running of the kitchen, making sure the team has everything they need to deliver great food consistently.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Leading, motivating and developing the kitchen team
• Maintaining consistently high food quality and presentation standards
• Making sure food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures are always followed
• Managing stock, ordering and controlling waste
• Keeping an eye on kitchen costs and supporting strong GP performance
• Organising the kitchen team and ensuring every service runs smoothly
• Working closely with the wider management team to deliver a great guest experience
• Coaching your team and helping them develop their skills and confidence
• Leading from the front during busy services and setting the standard for the team

We’re looking for someone who knows how to run a kitchen and isn't afraid to get stuck in.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Kitchen Manager, Head Chef, Sous Chef or similar
• Experience working in a busy pub, restaurant or high-volume kitchen
• Strong people leadership and communication skills
• A good understanding of food safety, allergens and kitchen compliance
• Experience managing stock, waste and kitchen costs
• A hands-on approach and the ability to stay calm under pressure
• The drive to develop your team and deliver consistently great food
• A genuine passion for hospitality and creating great experiences for customers
