Job summary

Slug And Lettuce in Manchester is seeking a Kitchen Manager to lead the kitchen, uphold high standards, and develop the team to deliver exceptional food and guest experiences. In this leadership role, you will drive operational excellence and ensure the team works cohesively to achieve targets.

You’ll coach staff, ensure food safety and COSHH compliance, manage stock and scheduling, and support a fast-paced pub environment focused on quality, consistency, and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a kitchen team in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
• Strong knowledge of food safety standards and COSHH requirements.
• Ability to coach, mentor, and develop junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Hire and onboard new team members in an inclusive way.
• Lead, guide and develop the kitchen team, ensuring ongoing training and growth.
• Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene and food safety, creating a safe workspace.
• Manage the kitchen schedule to ensure efficient staffing and meet labour targets.
• Conduct regular stock checks to control costs and meet performance goals.
• Foster strong collaboration between kitchen and front-of-house to drive sales.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a skilled Kitchen Manager or Kitchen Team Leader who is ready to take the next step in their career. In this leadership role, you'll play a key part in shaping our kitchen operations, maintaining high standards, supporting and developing the kitchen team at Slug And Lettuce.

As Kitchen Manager you will

• A high standard of food knowledge and skill
• An up-to-date COSHH, Food Safety, H&S, legal knowledge

• Hiring and onboarding of new team members in an inclusive and welcoming manner.
• Leading, guiding, and developing your kitchen team, ensuring they have access to ongoing training and growth opportunities.
• Maintaining high standards of kitchen hygiene and food safety, creating a safe and organised workspace for all.
• Managing the kitchen schedule to ensure efficient staffing while meeting labour targets.
• Conducting regular stock checks to ensure cost management and meet performance goals.
• Taking a proactive approach to increasing sales and driving growth by fostering strong relationships between kitchen and front-of-house teams.
