Job summary

Midlands Care is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to lead preparation, cooking, and delivery of high-quality meals in a Leicester residential care home. You will ensure dietary needs are met, hygiene is maintained, and safety standards are followed.

Your role involves menu planning with residents and staff, meal preparation, stock control, and maintaining a safe kitchen. Training and development opportunities are available within our Learning Academy.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous experience as a Chef or Cook, ideally within a care home or catering environment.
  • Culinary skills: strong cooking ability with confidence in preparing meals for diverse dietary needs.
  • Organisation: excellent planning, time-management, and stock-handling skills.
  • Food safety knowledge: understanding of food hygiene, kitchen safety, and equipment maintenance.
  • Values & attitude: a compassionate, resident-focused approach aligned with Midlands Care values.
  • Training commitment: willingness to complete relevant training, including food hygiene, health & safety, and dementia awareness.

Responsibilities
