Job summary

Avonmere Care Home in Bristol is seeking a warm Kitchen Assistant (Bank) to support the catering function and maintain high hygiene standards for residents. You will work as part of a caring team, handling food preparation, cleaning, and safe service.

Role requires Basic Food Hygiene, awareness of Health & Safety, and the ability to manage a physically demanding workload with initiative and empathy toward residents.

Qualifications

• Basic Food Hygiene certification required.
• Knowledge of health and safety, moving and handling.
• Understanding fire safety and COSHH assessments.
• Able to handle a physically demanding workload.
• Demonstrates initiative and teamwork.
• Caring and respectful attitude toward residents.

Responsibilities

• Support the catering function in food preparation and maintaining a clean environment for the safe production of beverages and meals.
• Understand principles of safe food handling to ensure high hygiene standards in all kitchen activities.
• Contribute fully to team working, responding positively to colleagues and actioning reasonable work instructions promptly.
• Advise on supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring timely and appropriate ordering of replacement goods.
• Act with care toward residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your focus as Kitchen Assistant is tosupport the catering function in food preparation and maintaining a clean environment for the safe production of beverages and meals, ensuring a high quality and comprehensive service is delivered to residents .

• Hold Basic Food Hygiene Certificate anddemonstrateshigh standardsof personal hygiene.

• Demonstrate initiative and display a positive and flexible aptitude to team working.
