Job summary

Avery Healthcare Group is seeking a Kitchen Assistant - Bank for Middleton Lodge Care Home in Derby. The role focuses on supporting the catering function, preparing meals, and maintaining a hygienic kitchen environment to provide high-quality resident meals.

You will work as part of a caring team, demonstrating a positive attitude, flexibility, and respect for residents in a busy care home setting. DBS check and eligibility to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

• Hold Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and demonstrates high standards of personal hygiene.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
• Be an efficient worker with ability to sustain physical effort and handle demanding workload.
• Demonstrate initiative and a flexible, team-focused attitude.
• Exhibit a caring and understanding approach to residents.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your focus as Kitchen Assistant is tosupportthe catering function in food preparation and maintaining a clean environment for the safe production of beverages and meals, ensuring a high quality and comprehensive service is delivered to residents.

• Understandingthe principles of safe food handling, to ensure all food preparations undertaken in the kitchen is to the highest standards of hygiene.
• Contributingfully to team working, responding positively tocolleagues,and actioning all reasonable work instructions promptly.
• Advisingon the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring thetimelyandappropriate orderingof replacement goods.
• Actingaccordingly towards residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident.
