Job summary

BaxterStorey UK is hiring a Kitchen Porter to support our kitchen team in a fast-paced environment. You will help maintain daily hygiene standards, assist with basic food preparation, and manage dishwashing and cleaning tasks across the kitchen.

The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and a proactive approach to maintaining a clean and organised kitchen workflow with the support of the BaxterStorey values.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a kitchen porter or similar role in hospitality.
  • Ability to work quickly and maintain cleanliness to high standards.
  • Good communication and stamina for busy kitchen environments.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain daily hygiene standards in kitchen and food preparation areas (hygiene & cleanliness).
  • Wash dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment.
  • Assist with basic food preparation as directed by the chef.
  • Control and store deliveries; stock rotation and organisation.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with inventory management and waste/recycling duties.
  • Support other kitchen staff during busy periods.

Job Description

As a Kitchen Porter, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Maintain daily hygiene standards in the kitchen and food preparation areas
  2. Control and put away daily stock deliveries
  3. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
  4. Assist in basic food preparation tasks as directed by the chef
  5. Clean and sanitise work surfaces, floors, and walls
  6. Empty and clean waste bins
  7. Organise and store cleaning supplies
  8. Assist with unloading delivery vehicles when necessary
  9. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  10. Report any faulty equipment or maintenance issues to the supervisor
  11. Assist in inventory management and stock rotation
  12. Maintain a clean and tidy changing area and staff facilities
  13. Support other kitchen staff during busy periods
