Job summary

Bupa UK is hiring a Kitchen Assistant for Edmund House Care Home in Scunthorpe. The role supports the kitchen team to deliver delicious, nutritious meals to residents, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and food safety.

You will work 35 hours per week on a permanent contract, including alternate weekends, with a pay rate of £12.75–£13.75 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.

• A passion for food with previous experience working in a kitchen.
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate is required.
• Commitment to high standards of cleanliness and resident comfort.

Responsibilities

• Acting as the link between the main kitchen and our residents.
• Assisting the chefs to plate meals, prepare food trolleys and ensure preparation areas stay clean.
• Monitoring stock rotation and following COSHH and HACCP guidelines.
• Assisting with catering for events such as summer BBQs and Christmas parties.

You’ll Help Us Make Health Happen By

• Acting as the link between the main kitchen and our residents

• Monitoring stock rotation, complying to company policies and procedures following all mandatory COSHH and HACPP guidelines
• Assisting with catering for special events such as summer BBQs and Christmas parties

Key Skills / Qualifications Needed For This Role

A passion for food with previous experience working in a kitchen and a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate. You want to deliver an excellent service at each meal and make our residents feel at home. You’ll understand the importance of maintaining high standards in and around the home, ensuring our residents enjoy a pleasant dining experience. Working with the wider kitchen and care home teams - you’re comfortable communicating with others, cherishing the little moments with our residents.
