Job summary

The Pig is seeking a Kitchen Assistant for our Head Office in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. This part-time role runs 10am–2pm, four days a week (Monday to Thursday), offering sociable daytime hours with no evenings. You will help prepare and deliver a fresh self-service lunch for our Head Office team while upholding high hygiene standards.

You will also maintain a clean, organised kitchen, assist with stock rotation and food labeling, and support with occasional food orders in a friendly environment.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen, catering or food-service experience.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Prep the kitchen and service area for lunch.
• Prepare and present food to the weekly menu.
• Ensure soup and hot items are ready for service.
• Cool, label and store leftovers safely.
• Package food for weekend team members.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen environment.
• Manage stock rotation, labeling and date checks.
• Assist with food orders and general kitchen duties.

About the role Kitchen Assistant Location: Homegrown Hotels Head Office, Lyndhurst, Hampshire. Salary: £13 per hour. Hours: 10am - 2pm, 4 days per week, Mondays - Thursday. We're looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant or Chef to join our friendly team at Clayhill Head Office in Lyndhurst. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone seeking a part-time role with sociable daytime hours and no evening shifts. You'll play a key part in preparing and delivering a fresh, self-service lunch offering for our Head Office team while maintaining excellent hygiene and food safety standards.

What You'll Be Doing

• Preparing the kitchen and service area ready for lunch each day.
• Preparing and presenting food in line with the weekly menu.
• Making sure soup and other hot food items are ready for service.
• Safely cooling, labelling and storing leftover food.
• Preparing and packaging food for weekend team members.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment.
• Managing stock rotation, food labelling and date checking.
• Reporting any stock shortages, equipment issues or food safety concerns.
• Assisting with food orders and general kitchen duties as required.
