Job summary

Treloar School & College in Holybourne seeks an enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our Catering team. Reporting to the Head Chef, you will help prepare and serve nutritious meals for students and staff and support the onsite café.

Duties include setting up service areas, assisting with food prep, and maintaining high hygiene standards. The role offers term-time hours (39 per week) with occasional extra weeks for a 10% top-up.

Qualifications

• Previous catering or kitchen experience required.
• Literate and numerate.
• Willing to train towards CIEH Level 2 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain food service areas for lunch and evening meals.
• Prepare salad bars, sandwiches and event catering.
• Assist with food preparation and cooking under supervision.
• Follow cleaning schedules to maintain hygiene and safety.
• Prepare food for onsite café.

Job description

We're looking for an enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly, hardworking Catering team. Reporting to the Head Chef, you'll play a key role in keeping our kitchen running smoothly and ensuring students and staff receive high-quality, nutritious meals every day., As a Kitchen Assistant, you'll help prepare and serve nutritious, high-quality meals for our students and staff.

Your duties will include:

• Setting up and maintaining food service areas for lunch and evening meals
• Preparing salad bars, sandwich lunches, and special event catering such as birthday parties
• Assisting with food preparation and cooking, under the guidance of our Chef or Dieticians
• Following cleaning schedules to maintain the highest standards of hygiene and safety
• Preparing food for the onsite café
• Supporting service in the dining area when required

The successful applicant will:

• Have previous catering or kitchen experience
• Be literate and numerate
• Be willing to train towards the CIEH Level 2 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace
• Enjoy working as part of a busy, supportive team

Salary: £23,683 per annum

Hours: 39 hours per week, includes alternate weekends

Contract: Term time only with the option to work 3 additional weeks during the holiday periods for an extra 10% of annual salary

Shift Patterns

You’ll work a mix of weekday and weekend shifts:

• Weekdays: 7:00am-3:00pm, 10:00am-6:00pm, or 11:30am-7:30pm
• Alternate weekends: 10:00am-6:00pm
