Job Title: Kitchen Assistant

Location: WQE – University Road, Leicester, LE1 7RJ

Contract Type: Permanent, Term Time Only

Working Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 10:00am – 2:00pm

Working Weeks: 36 working weeks per year (plus 4.328 weeks paid holiday)

Salary: £12.21 per hour / £9,848.10 per annum

About the Role

We’re looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team at WQE in Leicester. This is a part-time, term-time only role ideal for someone seeking regular weekday hours with no weekend work. You’ll be an important part of our daily food service, helping prepare fresh food, assisting with front-of-house tasks, and ensuring all areas are kept clean and welcoming. Full training will be provided, and we support all staff in becoming multi-skilled and confident in all areas of service.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve food including sandwiches and cold items
  • Assist with table clearing, service, and wash-up duties
  • Support stock rotation and restocking of supplies
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and front-of-house areas, including sweeping and mopping
  • Follow all safety and hygiene procedures to a high standard
  • Contribute to a flexible and team-oriented environment
What We’re Looking For
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Willingness to learn and work as part of a team
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required
  • Comfortable with the physical demands of the role (e.g., standing, bending, lifting)
  • Prior experience in a catering or kitchen environment is a plus, but not essential – full training provided
