Job summary

Avery Healthcare Group is looking for a warm, enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join Seagrave House Care Home in Corby, Northamptonshire. You will support the catering team in food preparation and keep the kitchen clean to ensure a high quality service for our residents.

The role requires you to have Basic Food Hygiene, knowledge of health and safety, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy environment. A DBS check and eligibility to work in the UK will be required.

Qualifications

• Hold Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and maintain high personal hygiene.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, Moving and Handling, Fire Safety and COSHH.
• Efficient worker with ability to handle a demanding workload.
• Show initiative and work well in a team.
• Caring and understanding attitude towards residents.

Responsibilities

• Support catering in food preparation and maintain kitchen hygiene.
• Contribute to safe production of meals and beverages for residents.
• Be responsive to colleagues and follow reasonable instructions promptly.
• Advise on supply quality and ordering of replacement goods.
• Respect residents' dignity and individuality.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your focus as Kitchen Assistant is tosupport the catering function in food preparation and maintaining a clean environment for the safe production of beverages and meals, ensuring a high quality and comprehensive service is delivered to residents.

Other responsibilitieswillinclude:

• Understanding the principles of safe food handling, to ensure all food preparations undertaken in the kitchen is to the highest standards of hygiene.
• Contributing fully to team working, responding positively to colleagues, and actioning all reasonable work instructions promptly.
• Advising on the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring the timely and appropriate ordering of replacement goods.
• Acting accordingly towards residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident.
