Job Overview

Nexxus Care are recruiting a kitchen assistant for one of our residential homes in Burtonwood. This post consists of 4 shifts per week, mornings and evenings shifts (on occasion would be required to cover the cook, full training would be provided). This is a unique and rewarding role where you will be supporting the nutritional needs of our care home residents. Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe food handling is adhered to, i.e. frozen foods are defrosted before using
  • Ensure all meals are ready at the appropriate time
  • Offer and prepare, if necessary, at least three main options for lunch each day ensuring that fresh vegetables are used
  • Delegate appropriate work to the kitchen assistant as required and monitor that this has been carried out to a satisfactory level
  • Ensure cleaning completed as per rota
  • Prepare fresh cakes for afternoon tea/special occasions
  • Be a good all‑rounder within the kitchen team, stepping up and supporting the cook when required.
  • Adhere to COSH policies, procedures and documentation requirements
  • Complete relevant in‑house training in accordance with the job description
Qualifications
  • Completion of satisfactory DBS checks
  • Experience of working within a residential home is beneficial
  • Good communicator
  • Good record‑keeping skills – documenting information in accordance with guidelines

  • Genuine passion for food and for our residents’ dietary requirements
