Senior Key Account Manager

Salary: Up to £37,800 DOE + 6% OTE

Location: Wallasey, Wirral

About the Role

Are you a commercially minded professional who excels at building strong client partnerships and driving account growth?

We're recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Senior Key Account Manager to take full ownership of key customer accounts — ensuring exceptional service, profitability, and long-term strategic success.

In this pivotal role, you'll lead account performance, manage profitability, and nurture trusted relationships with senior stakeholders. You'll collaborate closely with internal teams to deliver innovative solutions, drive sales growth, and uphold first-class service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take full ownership of key customer accounts, ensuring delivery of all service KPIs and SLAs.
  • Manage the full P&L for each account, driving profitability and maintaining healthy margins.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans, identifying new sales opportunities and growth initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with senior stakeholders across client organisations.
  • Partner with the Commercial Manager and Business Development Director to support new business onboarding and long‑term account development.
  • Drive revenue growth through upselling, cross‑selling, and introducing value‑added innovations.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts and demand planning to align with operational needs.
  • Lead and support commercial negotiations, including contracts, pricing, SLAs, and volume agreements.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for key clients, handling escalations and ensuring timely issue resolution.
  • Oversee NPI (New Product Introduction) projects, coordinating cross‑functional teams from concept to launch.
  • Collaborate internally to identify cost‑saving, lean manufacturing, and efficiency opportunities.
  • Monitor and improve customer service performance, maintaining OTIF (On‑Time In‑Full) levels of 95% or higher.
  • Represent the business at client meetings, site visits, and industry events – occasionally hosting clients as part of relationship building.
About You
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in Key Account Management, ideally within Manufacturing, Pharma, or Chemicals.
  • Proven success in managing P&L, delivering KPIs, and achieving commercial growth.
  • Strong strategic account planning and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities and complex projects.
  • Commercially astute with experience in pricing strategies and margin optimisation.
  • Analytical mindset with strong reporting, forecasting, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proactive, confident, and thrives in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment.
