Job summary

A prominent NHS organization is looking for a friendly and efficient Receptionist to manage ward reception duties. The ideal candidate will excel in communication and administrative tasks, work effectively in a team, and handle patient inquiries with care. This position is part-time, covering Monday and Tuesday from 9 am to 5 pm, offering a pro-rata salary of £29,179 annually.

Qualifications

Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust – Kennet Ward Receptionist

The closing date is 07 December 2025

The post holder will work on the ward reception, assisting with the smooth and efficient running of the reception area. They will meet and greet patients, answer patient queries and liaise on their behalf on issues such as transport and interpreting services. Where necessary the post holder will book patients in and out using the hospital administration system, Care Records Service (CRS), ensuring confidentiality of all patient information, book follow‑up appointments where necessary and provide accurate, timely information to assist clinicians and nursing staff. The role also includes answering the telephone to both internal and external callers, sending appointments to patients, booking transport, and assisting the nurse in charge with discharge plans for patients.

Main duties of the job

We need a friendly, caring and efficient Receptionist to join our established team. You will meet and greet patients and their families, deal with a range of telephone enquiries and use the hospital computer system to make appointments, admit and discharge patients.

You will have excellent communication skills, enjoy working in a busy environment and have the ability to prioritise your workload with minimum supervision. Clerical, administrative and good computer skills are essential. Previous experience of working with the public in a hospital setting is desirable.

This post is a job share and you will be expected to work Monday and Tuesday 9am‑5pm.
