Atcore, part of Travelsoft, is a global travel technology provider, with an unrivalled reputation for innovation and partnership spanning our 40 year history.

Combining unparalleled industry expertise with market leading proven technology, ATCOM powers over 23 million holidays and over £20 billion in bookings for our partners each year.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer to join our Windows and Networking team.

We are looking for candidates who are inspired to challenge the norm and help us evolve the customer journey.

What we are looking for:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Systems Engineer (Windows, Network & Automation) to join our Windows and Network Team.

The successful candidate will contribute to the support, maintenance and ongoing development of the organisation's Windows Server and network environments, working as part of a collaborative team of experienced engineers. The role spans a broad range of enterprise technologies and offers genuine scope for those at the start of their career as well as those with mid-level experience looking for their next challenge.

We are looking for individuals with strong technical aptitude, a genuine passion for technology and a drive to keep developing. Candidates may come from a Windows and networking background looking to build automation skills, or from a scripting and automation background looking to grow into enterprise infrastructure — both paths are equally valued. Whether gained through commercial experience, higher education, personal projects or home lab environments, what matters most is curiosity, problem-solving ability and enthusiasm for what good technology can achieve.

What you would do as our Systems Engineer:

Windows Systems Administration

  • Support the administration and maintenance of Windows Server environments.
  • Manage Active Directory users, groups, computer objects and associated services.
  • Assist with the creation, maintenance and troubleshooting of Group Policy.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and operational procedures.
  • Participate in Windows platform improvement, upgrade and migration projects.

Network Administration

  • Support the administration and maintenance of the organisation's network estate.
  • Assist with the management of switches, firewalls and load balancers.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity, configuration and performance issues.
  • Participate in planned network changes, upgrades and maintenance activities.
  • Contribute to network documentation, diagrams and configuration standards.

Automation & Process Improvement

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts — primarily in PowerShell — to streamline Windows and network administration tasks.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Design and develop monitoring, reporting and management tools
  • Apply scripting and automation to improve consistency, accuracy and service quality.
  • Maintain clear documentation for automated processes and operational solutions.
  • Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate the design, testing and documentation of automation solutions
To be successful in this role, you must be able to demonstrate competence and experience in the following:

Education & Experience

  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, Software Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A demonstrable interest in enterprise infrastructure, operational technology, or automation — candidates from Windows and networking backgrounds and those from scripting and automation backgrounds are equally encouraged to apply.
  • Experience gained through employment, placements, internships, personal projects, self-directed learning or home lab environments will be considered.

Technical Knowledge

Candidates are not expected to be strong in every area listed. A solid grounding in structured problem-solving and any combination of the following technical areas is what we are looking for:

  • Scripting or automation in any language (PowerShell, Python, Bash or similar).
  • Windows Server operating systems.
  • Active Directory concepts and Group Policy fundamentals.
  • TCP/IP networking including DNS.
  • Network switching and routing concepts.
  • Structured troubleshooting methodologies.
  • SolarWinds Hybrid Cloud Observability (HCO), Server & Application Monitor (SAM), or similar monitoring technologies.

Personal Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • A positive, proactive and self-motivated approach.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of the Windows and Network Team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for technology and continuous learning.

We have adopted a hybrid model, where full-time employees are typically required to come into the office three days per week, with more time in-office during onboarding.

In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a wide range of benefits including employer-matched pension, travel insurance, healthcare schemes, life insurance, and more.

We pride ourselves on retaining and developing our people, with a uniquely low employee turnover rate of around 5% and most employees having been with us for over 10 years.

Based in Slough, UK, Atcore employs around 250 people with an unrivalled combination of industry and technical expertise.
