Job summary

G.Digital in Leeds is hiring an Entry-Level Software Engineer who is curious, analytical and eager to start a career in technology. You don't need a CS degree; self-taught developers and career changers are welcome.

You'll work with experienced engineers to learn how software is designed, built, tested and deployed. You’ll gain exposure to APIs, databases and cloud technologies while writing tests, practicing good engineering discipline and taking part in code reviews in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• No computer science degree required; enthusiasm and curiosity are valued.

Fancy a career in software? Whether you have a relevant degree not ?

Good. You don't need one.

We're looking for an Entry-Level Software Engineer who is curious, analytical and genuinely wants to build a career in technology. Yes if you have a computer science degree still apply!

You might be a recent graduate from a completely different subject. You might have taught yourself to code. You might have completed a bootcamp. Or you might be sitting in a completely different career thinking, \"I reckon I'd be good at this.\"

What you'll be doing

You'll work alongside experienced engineers, learning how software is designed, built, tested and deployed.

You'll get involved in things like:

• Writing and improving code


• Building new features and applications


• Fixing bugs and investigating problems


• Working with APIs, databases and cloud technologies


• Writing tests and learning good engineering practices


• Taking part in code reviews


• Working as part of an Agile development team


• Gradually taking ownership of your own pieces of work

You won't be expected to know everything on day one. That's the whole point of the role.

You might already have some experience with:

• Git or GitHub


• HTML / CSS


• APIs


• Databases


• Personal coding projects


• A coding bootcamp or online learning platform

But you don't need to tick every box.

Career changers - this could be for you.

Maybe you've spent the last few years working in finance, retail, engineering, teaching, customer service, marketing, science, or something completely different.

That's not a disadvantage.

In fact, we like people who bring a different perspective.
