Job summary

Footballco is seeking a Junior Social Media Manager to join GOAL's Content team in the UK, with the role based in the London or Leeds office. Responsibilities

  • Execute GOAL and its verticals' social media strategy across platforms (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X).
  • Daily social publishing, community management and audience engagement; editing images and writing social copy.
  • Arm the production team with questions, insights and assets to support shoots.
  • Plan and scripting long-form and short-form video content with detailed briefs for post-production.
  • Support content ideation to ensure editorial output is on-brand, innovative, and platform-native.
  • Advise on captions, thumbnails and content flow to maximise UK reach.
  • Monitor performance, analyse data and refine publishing plans.
  • Share social trends, platform updates and emerging formats to keep GOAL ahead globally.
  • Support platform revenue-driving efforts across social for GOAL IP.
  • Coordinate with commercial partners on brand integration within GOAL content.
  • Be available for events requiring evening/weekend work.

About the Role

Footballco is looking for a Junior Social Media Manager to join GOAL's Content team in the UK.

You’ll be involved in GOAL's daily social output and work closely with other teams (e.g. production) to create compelling content in GOAL's tone of voice. From first concept to publishing, reporting and refining, you’ll be involved in every step of the process in our day-to-day content output.

This role is ideal for someone ready to step up into the fast-paced world of content creation, publishing and audience development. You’ll work independently to post on our social feeds throughout the day, and collaborate with various teams to create outstanding video content in both longform and shortform. You’ll become an expert in best practices across different platforms, with an attention to detail and a creative streak.

The role can be based from our London or Leeds office.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Execute GOAL and its verticals' social media strategy across platforms. We publish on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, Snapchat, Twitch, Discord and Spotify.
  • Daily social publishing, community management and audience engagement; editing images, creating graphics and writing social copy
  • Arm the production team with questions, insights and assets to support shoots.
  • Planning and scripting long-form and short-form video content, ensuring that the post-production team is given detailed briefs for process efficiency.
  • Support content ideation and ensure editorial output is on-brand, innovative, and platform-native.
  • Advise on social captions, thumbnails and content flow to optimise storytelling and maximise reach for a UK audience.
  • Monitor performance, analyse data and absorb actionable insights to refine future publishing plans on Footballco's portfolio of social channels.
  • Share social trends, platform updates and emerging formats to keep GOAL leading the way globally with its social content.
  • Support platform revenue-driving efforts across social for GOAL IP.
  • Action instructions for commercial partner posts, and an openness to learn how to integrate brands effectively within GOAL and sub-brands' audience-first content
  • Willingness and availability to work around big football moments and shoots, which may require evening and weekend work.
What you have:
  • Passion for football and strong depth of knowledge of both the UK and global game.
  • Excellent written English skills and ability to write compelling, accurate copy under pressure while adhering to GOAL's tone and brand voice.
  • Minimum two years’ experience planning and publishing audience-driven content on social media channels.
  • Proven track record of growing audiences and engagement across major social platforms.
  • Experience of writing video scripts and content plans, as well as providing astute and actionable feedback for others within the team and in other departments would be ideal, would be advantageous.
  • Good editorial judgement and creative ability to react to breaking news and viral opportunities.
  • Willingness to become proficient in using social analytics tools.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, with a problem‑solving mindset and calmness under pressure.
  • A collaborative attitude and strong communication, taking on board recommendations from more senior colleagues to develop their own skills.
