Job description

We are seeking an experienced cardiac nurse with a strong clinical background in cardiac catheter labs who is enthusiastic to further develop their clinical skills and help shape the future development of the team and service.

Learn and work with a Junior Band 7 to manage a team, support a range of procedures, and provide high‑standard nursing care in a busy environment. You must be a true team player, able to stand for long periods wearing lead protection, and possess excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

Experience within an acute setting post‑registration is preferred. Training will be provided to support your Cath Lab/Cardiology career with specific competencies to support ongoing professional development.

Our Cardiac Suite comprises a catheter lab and a purpose‑built recovery for up to six patients. We undertake percutaneous coronary angioplasty (PCI), diagnostic angiograms, implant loop recorders, pacemakers and defibrillators, and perform TOE and stress echocardiograms within the lab environment.

This role is a full‑time position; the unit's core hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am–6:30 pm, and the successful candidate will work 37.5 hrs per week within those hours.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high‑standard nursing care in the cardiac catheter lab and recovery area.
  • Act as the designated deputy for the unit, taking charge in the absence of the unit manager and providing professional and managerial leadership.
  • Teach and supervise qualified and unqualified staff, including students and health‑care assistants.
  • Coordinate the services and support of cardiac cardiologists during a wide range of procedures carried out in the laboratory and associated day case.
  • Maintain, monitor, and document patient care, ensuring compliance with trust policies.
