About the School

St Dunstan's College Junior School aims to inspire a true love of learning from the earliest stages by creating what we see as being the perfect balance between academic rigour, exploratory play and an individualised approach to learning. Our co‑educational setting caters for children from Nursery to Year 6, with the majority of our pupils moving to our Senior School in Year 7, seeing our College as an ideal setting for their educational journey through to Sixth Form. We accommodate one Nursery form, two forms from Reception to Year 2 and three forms in Years 3‑6.

Role Overview

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to provide support in our ambitious and forward‑thinking Junior School setting in Nursery. This is an exciting and varied role and is an ideal opportunity for anyone with a passion for assisting our pupils to develop a love of learning from the earliest stages of their education.

Qualifications

Qualification: a minimum of a Level 3 Qualification or a Teaching Qualification is required for this role.

Safeguarding and Checks

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post. As this role involves "regulated activity" with children the successful applicant will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure application. Employment will be conditional upon the College being satisfied with the result of the Enhanced DBS check and the outcome of all other checks. The College will also carry out a check of the Children's Barred List on the successful applicant. This role is also exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the College is therefore permitted to ask shortlisted applicants to declare all convictions and cautions in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

Diversity and Inclusion

St Dunstan's College reflects the diverse location in which it is situated. In a recent review of our racial diversity by 'Flair Impact', we were found to be the most racially diverse school out of their client base of over 30 British independent schools. We see diversity to be of intrinsic and essential value to the contemporary, ambitious and forward‑thinking education we offer. We encourage applications from people who share this view, and from professionals of all backgrounds, communities and industries. We are a school that places individuality and identity at the heart of what we do.
