Job summary

Jagex, the RuneScape Company, invites applications for a Junior Game Designer based near Cambridge. You will design and implement engaging content across RuneScape, scripting with RuneScript and delivering features from concept to release.

You’ll work in multidisciplinary teams, contributing to weekly updates for a vibrant player community, and grow your craft with the support of experienced designers while enjoying flexible working options near Cambridge.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of RuneScape, its skills, progression systems and player behaviours.
• Understanding of MMORPG content loops and systemic design principles.
• Some scripting or programming experience, showing ability to learn RuneScript.
• Proven ability to manage time, communicate progress, and seek support when needed.

Responsibilities

• Design varied and engaging content across multiple areas of RuneScape, taking ownership of smaller tasks.
• Script designs using RuneScript to bring content to life in-game.
• Build and maintain clear design documentation to support collaboration.
• Deepen knowledge of RuneScape systems, content and community to ensure integration with the broader game.
• Collaborate with designers, engineers, artists and community teams to deliver high‑quality weekly updates.
• Engage with the RuneScape community to understand player needs and preferences.
