Job summary

Hastings Direct in the UK is recruiting a Junior Release Engineer to support CI/CD pipelines, including Azure Pipelines, and assist deployments across development, test and production environments.

You will work with the development and QA teams to deliver new features, monitor releases, help automate manual steps, and grow in a collaborative, hybrid working culture with strong focus on wellbeing and employee development.

Qualifications

  • Experience in IT/DevOps environment welcomed (internship/placement/junior).
  • Basic understanding of Azure cloud.
  • Familiar with CI/CD concepts and version control.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines (Azure Pipelines).
  • Assist deployments across development, test and production environments.
  • Collaborate with development and QA to deliver new features and releases.
  • Help plan and execute software releases including rollback processes.
  • Monitor deployments and resolve environment-related issues.

Job Details
  • As a Junior Release Engineer you will be supporting the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines (Azure Pipelines)

Skills We Would Love You To Have

We’re looking for someone with a strong interest in DevOps and a willingness to learn:

  • Some experience in an IT, DevOps, or software environment (internship, placement, or junior role)
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms, ideally Azure
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools (e.g. Azure Pipelines)
  • Exposure to version control systems such as GitHub
  • Basic scripting skills (e.g. Bash, PowerShell, or similar)
  • Understanding of web applications and software development fundamentals
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset
