Job summary

DCS Recruitment is seeking a Junior Quality Engineer for an aerospace manufacturing operation in Greater Manchester. The role offers progression into a full Quality Engineer position and supports a fast-paced, regulated environment.

You will work with experienced Quality Engineers on day-to-day quality activities, drawing on your 3+ years of manufacturing experience and exposure to quality processes, inspection, and calibration. Onsite parking is available.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ manufacturing experience – essential.
  • Experience in quality/inspection or related manufacturing function.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is desirable.
  • Understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) / Integrated Management Systems (IMS) basics.
  • Experience or understanding of aerospace, defence or other highly regulated manufacturing standards.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support Quality Engineers with day-to-day quality activities and departmental tasks.
  • Assist in maintaining product conformance to engineering drawings, specifications and required quality standards.
  • Support measuring, inspection and product approval activities where required.
  • Support calibration activities and maintain relevant records.
  • Assist with documentation control, quality records and general department administration.
  • Support compliance with QMS/IMS requirements.
  • Help maintain compliance with internal procedures and 5S standards.
  • Support investigation of non-conformances and basic quality issues.
  • Assist with departmental reporting, data entry and general quality administration.
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to support product quality and conformance.
  • Support Quality Engineers in maintaining the high standards expected within an aerospace/defence manufacturing environment.

Junior Quality Engineer – Aerospace Manufacturing

Greater Manchester

We are supporting a well-established aerospace manufacturing business in Greater Manchester who are seeking a Junior Quality Engineer to join their quality team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a minimum of 3 years’ manufacturing experience, ideally with some exposure to quality, inspection or quality-related activities, who is looking to develop their career within a structured Quality Engineering environment.

The role offers clear progression into a full Quality Engineer position over time. You will work closely with experienced Quality Engineers, supporting a range of departmental quality activities across a fast-paced, highly regulated aerospace manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Quality Engineers with day-to-day quality activities and departmental tasks
  • Assist in maintaining product conformance to engineering drawings, specifications and required quality standards

What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum 3 years’ work experience within a manufacturing environment – essential
  • Ideally experience within a quality, inspection or quality-related manufacturing function
  • Understanding of manufacturing quality functions, particularly product conformance, specifications and calibration
  • Understanding of manufacturing principles from raw material through to finished product
  • Experience or awareness of measuring and inspection activities
  • Understanding of product approvals and quality requirements
  • Basic awareness of Quality Management Systems (QMS) / Integrated Management Systems (IMS)
  • Experience or understanding of working to aerospace, defence or other highly regulated manufacturing standards
  • Understanding of calibration requirements and processes
  • Awareness of COSHH and safe working practices
  • Good general office and departmental administration skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is desirable
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Proactive attitude with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement
  • Commitment to safe working practices and 5S standards
Development Opportunity

This role is designed as a progression pathway into a Quality Engineer position. Full training and development will be provided, including further exposure to aerospace/defence manufacturing standards, inspection and measuring processes, product approvals, calibration, quality systems and quality engineering activities.

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced Quality Engineers, supporting a range of departmental tasks while developing the knowledge and practical skills required to progress into a Quality Engineer position.
