Job summary

ALTEN is supporting a major nuclear infrastructure programme near Hinkley Point C, seeking a Quality Engineer to ensure quality standards across project teams and suppliers. The role focuses on QMS deployment, ISO 9001/ISO 19443 compliance, audits, and continuous improvement within highly regulated environments.

The ideal candidate has 5–9 years in QA/Compliance, strong communication skills, and hands-on experience with QMS and reporting tools.

Qualifications

  • 5–9 years’ experience in a Quality Engineer, Quality Assurance, or Compliance role.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or similar recognised quality standards.
  • Experience in regulated or safety‑critical industries (nuclear, defence, aerospace, rail, oil & gas, or similar).
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using SharePoint and collaborative platforms.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent military experience.
  • Experience in the nuclear sector.
  • Familiarity with ISO 19443.
  • Experience using Power BI or similar reporting tools.
  • Experience using Jira, Confluence, or Atlassian tools.
  • Experience supporting supplier quality or audit programmes.
  • Understanding of working in highly regulated environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support deployment and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Quality planning, inspection co-ordination and test plan writing.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 19443, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct and support internal and supplier audits.
  • Monitor quality performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support project teams in implementing quality processes and best practice.
  • Interface with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and project teams.
  • Produce reports and quality documentation using MS Office and reporting tools.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the programme.
  • Work with EPC’s.

We are supporting a major nuclear infrastructure programme based near Hinkley Point C, delivered by one of the UK’s leading energy organisations.

This opportunity is ideal for a Quality Engineer or Quality Assurance professional with experience working in regulated or safety‑critical environments, supporting compliance, governance, and continuous improvement across complex engineering projects.

You will play a key role ensuring quality standards are maintained across project teams and suppliers, supporting one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure programmes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support deployment and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Quality Planning, inspection co‑ordination and test plan writing.
