Purchasing Assistant

Location: Huddersfield

Salary: £24,000 - £26,000 per annum

Hours: 38 Hours per Week

Contract: Permanent

Stafflex are proudly working with a growing local business to find a Junior Purchasing Assistant. This role reports to the Purchasing Manager and is placed within a growing operation. The Purchasing Assistant will support day-to-day procurement activity, with a strong focus on accuracy.

The position is ideal for someone who's looking for a role in a process-driven environment, enjoys problem-solving, and can communicate well with people. We are looking for someone with a strong eye for detail and someone who is keen to create a career for themselves.

Key Responsibilities
  • Raising, checking, and processing Purchase Orders (POs) accurately.
  • Acting as a point contact for suppliers, maintaining preferred supplier information and resolving order-related queries.
  • Handling enquiries from staff
  • Receiving quotes from nominated suppliers and placing orders on in-house systems.
  • Internal coordination; liaising with production, finance and warehouse teams to ensure the timely delivery of goods and smooth flow of information.
  • Monitoring stock levels, tracking open orders, and coordinating deliveries.
  • Maintaining accurate purchase records, registers and documentation.
  • Compiling purchasing and stock data to support operational decision-making.
  • Investigating discrepancies relating to orders, deliveries, or invoicing.
Experience and Skills
  • Strong technical proficiency, particularly Microsoft Office
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Organised, able to prioritise workload, and comfortable in a process-driven environment
  • Confident communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving mindset
