Job description

Support the delivery of smarter wastewater monitoring programmes with Tetra Tech
Purpose and scope of the role

Tetra Tech is seeking a motivated Junior Project Manager to support the delivery of wastewater monitoring and sampling services for UK water utilities. Based primarily in Brentford, you will assist with multi-site programmes and frameworks across London and the South West of England, with potential delivery further afield.

Working closely with experienced project managers, clients, regional field crews and office-based specialists, you will support projects from inception through to handover. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your project management skills while contributing to important programmes that support environmental protection and reduce pollution risk.

Your responsibilities will include supporting programme planning, coordinating resources, monitoring progress, maintaining project records, assisting with quality and safety assurance, communicating with stakeholders and contributing to data analysis and continuous improvement. You will help ensure projects are delivered to agreed scope, timescales, budgets and quality standards.

This permanent role offers a salary from £41,000 plus car allowance and an immediate start.

Your impact in this position

In the short term, you will support the coordination and delivery of existing wastewater monitoring programmes, helping to improve communication between field and office teams. Over the medium term, you will develop your confidence in project planning, stakeholder management, commercial awareness and operational delivery.

With the right support and development, you can progress into a Project Manager role and, in time, take on responsibility for larger and more complex programmes.

You will work on significant water-industry programmes that support environmental protection, reduce pollution risk and help safeguard communities.

Core Capabilities
  • Project coordination and planning Ability to organise tasks, maintain accurate project information and support the delivery of projects to time, cost and quality requirements.
  • Teamwork and operational support Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, regional field crews and office-based colleagues in a busy operational environment.
  • Health, safety and risk awareness Understanding of the importance of health, safety and risk management, with a willingness to learn about field activities such as confined spaces and highways work.
  • Client engagement and communication Clear and professional communication skills, with the confidence to build positive working relationships with clients, colleagues and project stakeholders.
  • Technical and analytical proficiency An interest in drainage and sewer networks, together with confidence using Microsoft Office, data analysis tools and work-management systems.
Skills, Qualifications And Experience

Experience in project coordination, administration, water, utilities or a related operational environment would be advantageous. A relevant degree or recognised project management qualification, such as PRINCE2 or APM, is desirable but not essential.

IOSH Managing Safely, utility services experience and a commitment to continuing professional development would also be beneficial. A full UK driving licence is expected.

We welcome applications from candidates who are beginning their project management career and can demonstrate strong organisational skills, a willingness to learn and the ability to take ownership of their work.

Work patterns and locations

This is a full-time, Monday-to-Friday role, working 40 hours per week. The primary base is Brentford, with regular field visits and occasional travel to Clevedon and other locations.

Hybrid working may be available where compatible with operational requirements, although office attendance several days per week should be expected. Tetra Tech supports reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process and employment.
