Job summary

NATS is seeking a Junior Project Manager to assist with delivering NSL programmes, developing skills through mentoring and training. You will manage small-to-medium projects under supervision, coordinating milestones, requirements and stakeholder meetings.

Working under guidance from senior PMs, you will contribute to project reporting, cost tracking and change management, while building credibility with customers and internal teams. Agile working options available.

Qualifications

• Relevant project management qualification (degree, APM PMQ, PRINCE2 or equivalent).
• Basic understanding of contracts for the provision of goods/services, monitoring compliance and variances.
• Strong written and oral communication at all levels of the organisation.
• Good interpersonal skills for influencing, persuading, facilitation and conflict management.
• Excellent time management, organisational and planning to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Plan, track milestones and manage project requirements.
• Control project costs and forecast spend to maintain margins.
• Manage internal resources, suppliers and subcontractors via work packages.
• Identify risks, issues, actions and decisions; track and report.
• Provide project reporting to Review Boards and stakeholders.
• Support senior PMs and assist with smaller, less complex projects.
• Foster continuous improvement and credible stakeholder relationships.

Purpose of the Role:

The Junior Project Manager will assist with the delivery of a range of NSL programmes, ensuring outcomes that meet our customer requirements. The Junior Project Manager will also develop their knowledge and skills via undertaking the role of Project Manager for smaller, less complex projects, supported through mentoring, coaching and formal training.

Accountabilities:

Under the supervision of a Programme Manager or Project Manager, manage the delivery of small to medium complexity projects to a high standard, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory policies, procedures, governance and contractual obligations and maintaining the project margins.

Includes:

• Project planning and scheduling
• Tracking of milestones
• Tracking and management of project requirements
• Tracking and management of the project critical path
• Management of internal resource, suppliers and subcontractors via Work Packages
• Risk (threats and opportunities), issue, action and decision management
• Project finances e.g., tracking actual spend and forecasting future spend accurately, ensuring overall control of project costs
• Change management
• Project reporting, including updates to the Project Review Boards as required

Direct and manage the delivery of the stakeholder meetings, presentations, reports and workshops, with the support of a Programme or Project Manager when appropriate.

Participate and contribute in the delivery of complex larger projects under the direction of a Programme or Project Manager.

Identify areas for improvement enabling a culture of continuous improvement.

Develop credible and trusted stakeholder relationships at all levels across NATS and externally with customers to facilitate high quality delivery.

Apply technical and customer knowledge, to influence customers and colleagues, as to the most effective solutions to meet existing and future requirements.

Qualifications, professional knowledge and Skills:

• Relevant Project Management based qualification (degree, APM PMQ, Prince 2 or equivalent)
• A basic understanding of contracts for the provision of goods and/or services, monitoring compliance and managing variances.
• Must have good communication skills both written and oral, with the ability to develop these skills further to communicate at all levels of the organisation internally and externally in an efficient and professional manner.
• Must have good interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop influencing, persuading, facilitation and conflict management skills.
• Must have good time management, organisational, prioritisation and planning skills to efficiently manage workload and deliver high quality work to meet strict deadlines.
