Location: Various Mobile Sites

Role Level

This position is suitable for a Mobile Engineer, Improver, or Junior Engineer, including candidates with basic electrical knowledge who are willing to learn and develop skills in IoT, commissioning, and HVAC‑related controls. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.

Polyteck Building Services is seeking a proactive and technically motivated Mobile IoT Technician to support the installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of IoT monitoring systems across multiple sites. The ideal candidate will have a practical mindset, strong willingness to learn, and the ability to work safely and professionally in client environments.

Overall Purpose of the Role
  • Ensure all systems are installed, commissioned, and maintained correctly, safely, and on programme.
  • Respond to and resolve reactive callouts in a timely manner, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Provide technical assistance and fault‑finding support at site level.
  • Ensure PPM activities are completed to SFG20 and relevant HVAC / Electrical standards.
  • Liaise professionally with subcontractors, clients, tenants, and internal teams.
Key Job Dimensions
  • Installation, commissioning, servicing, and testing of IoT monitoring systems.
  • Coordination of materials, labour, scheduling, and site‑level workflow.
  • Continuously promoting efficiency, technical standards, and safe working practices.
Principal Responsibilities
Project & Site Delivery
  • Ensure assigned works are planned and delivered effectively with sufficient labour and time.
  • Coordinate materials and equipment needs with the Operations Director and Lead Commissioning Technician.
  • Follow a logical and systematic sequence of works.
  • Assist engineers by resolving technical issues arising on site.
  • Identify remedial works during PPMs and routine visits and raise follow‑on recommendations.
  • Ensure systems are installed to specification, within approved budget, and meet Electrical Wiring Regulations.
  • Deliver installation, commissioning, service, and callout support on IoT systems.
  • Ensure system configuration settings, tests, and commissioning records are accurately documented.
Compliance & Reporting
  • Work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, RAMS, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure service visits are completed on time and that schedule frequencies are maintained.
  • Keep helpdesk and office teams updated on job status and callout completion.
  • Produce clear site reports and summary updates as required for management review.

  • Demonstrate flexibility when operational needs require additional hours (reasonable & agreed).

  • Cost Control - Reduce waste, maintain tools/materials properly, avoid damage.
  • Customer Satisfaction - High quality workmanship and positive feedback leading to repeat business.
  • Programme Delivery - Work completed on time and within budget.
  • Profitability - Target 30% gross profit margin across works delivered.
Key Skills Required
  • Strong organisational and task‑planning ability.

  • City & Guilds qualification in A / C or HVAC (or working toward).
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical / electrical systems and controls wiring.

Salary & Progression
  • Starting salary : £26,000 (entry level)
