Job summary

CyDen is seeking a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Product Development team in Swansea on a fixed-term 12-month maternity cover. The role focuses on mechanical design, prototype testing, and packaging development across multiple teams to ensure robust, manufacturable products.

You will collaborate with Research, Electronics, Product Management and Test teams, using SolidWorks for 3D modelling, and you will contribute to DFMEA/DFM/ DFA documentation and project transfers to

Qualifications

• Experience in product/mechanical design and applying SolidWorks for 3D modelling and surface design.
• Ability to create accurate 2D technical drawings with tolerancing.
• Experience ensuring designs are suitable for mass production.
• Proficient in using 3D printing for concept development, usability testing and validation.
• Experience with DFMEA/DFM/DF A and DFA documentation and reviews.

Responsibilities

• Product/Mechanical design primarily using SolidWorks (3D solid & surface modelling).
• Create 2D technical drawings with tolerancing.
• Ensure designs are suitable for mass production.
• Utilize 3D printing for concept development, usability trials and testing.
• Test and verify the function of prototype and pre-production parts.
• Analyze data and interpret results to aid design improvements.
• Generate and assist in project documentation, including drawings and DFMEA/DFM/DFA.
