A design and manufacturing firm in Newcastle-under-Lyme is seeking a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to support product development and engineering documentation. The role involves creating and maintaining drawings, collaborating with teams for product introduction, and conducting design verification. Ideal candidates will have at least 2 years of engineering experience and proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor. Junior Mechanical Design Engineer needed for our Newcastle under Lyme based Client.
Position Summary

You will work as part of the engineering team, supporting the design, development, and manufacture of products. The role covers a wide range of activities, including change management, new product development (NPD), support of production assembly processes, functional and structural testing, product design, and 3D CAD work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, laser marking files, specifications, and BOMs.
  • Support product change management and ensure changes are accurately implemented and documented.
  • Work closely with other teams, including Quality, Production, Procurement, and Sales, to support product introduction.
  • Contribute to product and process development projects.
  • Carry out design verification and validation testing on new and existing products, materials, and components.
  • Provide technical support to internal teams.
  • Manage and maintain CAD data, ensuring accuracy and correct revision control.
  • Support the Proof Validation (PV) process.
Education And Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in an engineering role, ideally within manufacturing or consumer goods.
  • HNC/D or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Engineering field.
  • Strong experience using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Creo, or equivalent.
  • Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis).
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and projects independently.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
