Job summary

EY’s Deal Technology team in Manchester seeks a Junior Manager to advise on IT aspects of transactions, from pre‑deal diligence to integration. You’ll work with clients across UKI, applying IT and data expertise to value creation and strategic outcomes.

Based onsite in Manchester (or Belfast), you’ll collaborate with EY Parthenon colleagues, travel to London as required, and develop your career through structured learning and varied assignments.

Qualifications

• A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related subjects.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Analytical mindset and ability to provide IT insights for IT aspects of M&A.
• Strong communicator (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
• Broad knowledge of IT ecosystems: ERP, HRIS, IT infra, data and site separation.
• Project management experience with sub-workstreams and delivery of programmes.
• Willingness to travel; role based onsite in Belfast or Manchester with London travel.

The opportunity

EY’s market leading Strategy and Execution (S&E) team provides IT & Operations advice to corporate and private equity firms who intend to acquire, divest or restructure businesses. The team comprises advisors with specialist Commercial, Operations, IT and transaction experience from industry, advisory and audit backgrounds.

We are seeking to further expand our team with Deal Technology Consultants to work with our clients (Corporate and Private Equity) and across a range of sectors that include Industrials and Energy, Consumer and Health. We are specifically looking for candidates that have extensive Data, Enterprise Applications (e.g. ERP, HRIS), Infrastructure or Site Separation experience in the context of M&A.

Deal Technology is the IT Mergers and Acquisition (M&A) Practice that sits within EY Parthenon. We provide IT M&A execution support to our clients across the transaction lifecycle.

As a Junior Manager in our team, you’ll advise clients across all sectors, supporting key decision makers in developing and executing their M&A strategy. You will apply your IT technical skills across the M&A transaction lifecycle; including pre-deal diligence, value creation, carve-outs and integrations.

Your proven IT M&A execution and stakeholder management experience will be key to the role. If you’re ready to take on a wide range of responsibilities and are committed to seeking out new ways to make a difference, this role is for you.

Your key responsibilities:

• Leading and/or contributing to IT pre deal, value creation, post deal, separation and integration engagements with clients across all sectors including Private Equity across the United Kingdom and Ireland (UKI).
• Assisting in aspects of business origination, including pitches and presentations, and working in project teams comprising other colleagues from EY Parthenon, such as Operational and Financial Due Diligence, Corporate Strategy, Operational Strategy and Software Strategy Group.
• Working on client engagement teams who advise and support key decision makers in developing and executing strategies for transactions.
• Assess the client's state of IT readiness based on the transaction phase, this will cover the IT organisation, infrastructure, business and enterprise applications, data and service delivery.
• Support our clients through transaction execution planning to achieve strategic milestones, identify high-risk areas, unidentified issues and areas of improvement.
• Learn and develop technical and personal skills to support achievement of career goals, through a blend of structured learning, coaching and practical experiences.

• Broad knowledge of one or more core aspects of a typical IT ecosystem; Enterprise Architecture, IT Operating Model, IT Strategy, Enterprise Applications (e.g. ERP, HRIS, Customer and Sales systems), IT Infrastructure, IT Financials, Site Separation and Data.
• Project Management experience with demonstrable experience in managing sub-workstreams and being involved in the delivery of successful programmes.
• Flexible with working locations, this role will be based onsite out of either Belfast (Northen Ireland) or Manchester (England), you will be required to travel London (England) as we have a large Deal Technology team based there.

Ideally, you will have:

• Experience of M&A transactions, ideally in performing of IT Due Diligence and/or IT post-merger integration, separation/carve-out and value creation assignments.
• Knowledge of structured methodologies and a familiarity with industry standards such as ITIL for Infrastructure, Systems Development Life Cycle methods and COBIT for IT Governance.
