The Role
As a Utilities Engineer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of key site services that keep production running safely and efficiently.
- Steam generation and distribution
- Water treatment systems
- HVAC and temperature control systems
- Compressed air systems
- Cooling towers
- Air handling units
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Effluent treatment and environmental systems
- Working alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists, you'll be involved in maintenance, fault finding, inspections, monitoring activities and continuous improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operation and maintenance of critical utility systems across site
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities
- Conduct routine inspections and monitoring checks
- Assist with fault finding, breakdown response and repairs
- Support water treatment, chemical dosing and effluent processes
- Operate and monitor plant equipment in line with site procedures
- Help ensure utility services consistently meet production demands
- Complete maintenance records, inspections and compliance documentation
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to improve site performance
- Maintain high standards of safety, compliance and housekeeping
You’ll ideally have:
- NVQ Level 3 or a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship
- A strong commitment to health and safety
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and diagrams
- Good problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work with people across the business
- Strong organisation and time management skills
- A willingness to learn, develop and take on new challenges
