Job summary

Service Care Legal are recruiting a Locum Lawyer to join a South East London Council's Legal Services team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified or junior Lawyer with experience in local government, litigation or prosecutions to join a supportive team and take on a varied caseload.

Location is South East London with 2 days per week from home. The role offers a 6-month contract (36 hours/week) with rates up to £40ph umbrella or PAYE options.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor, barrister or CILEX with practising certificate.
• Experience in local government, litigation or prosecutions.
• Knowledge of local government, admin law and court procedure.

• Handle a varied caseload of straightforward legal matters, providing advice, drafting, negotiation and advocacy.
• Manage litigation and prosecution work, including Education Prosecution cases.
• Conduct court advocacy and prepare legal documentation for proceedings.

CONTRACT:

6 months, 36 hours per week

The Role

• Handle a varied caseload of straightforward legal matters, providing advice, drafting, negotiation and advocacy.
• Manage litigation and prosecution work, including Education Prosecution cases.
• Conduct court advocacy and prepare legal documentation for proceedings.

About You

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX Lawyer with a current Practising Certificate.
• Litigation practice rights and relevant experience in litigation/prosecutions.
• Knowledge of local government, administrative law and court procedure. Able to manage a varied caseload, prioritise competing deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
