Job summary

Apexon is seeking a software engineer in Birmingham to contribute across backend and frontend layers, delivering scalable Java/Spring Boot services and modern UI components.

You will collaborate with product heads and stakeholders, own code quality, and participate in DevOps practices to deploy and maintain systems for enterprise clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field.
• Strong Java backend and React frontend development experience.
• Experience building RESTful services and microservices architectures.
• Familiar with Agile operating models and DevOps practices.
• Experience with Kafka, MongoDB, Spring and Vert.x is plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices with Java/Spring Boot.
• Build responsive front-ends using modern frameworks (Angular, React, Vue).
• Design and optimize relational and NoSQL databases and queries.
• Collaborate with DevOps to deploy apps in cloud environments.
• Write tests and debug to maintain code quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

Back-End Development:

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Java , Spring Boot etc.
• Implement business logic, database interactions, and integrations with third-party services.
• Optimize application performance and ensure scalability.

Front-End Development:

• Develop responsive and user-friendly interfaces using modern front-end frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, or Vue.js).
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers to implement designs and ensure a seamless user experience.

Database Management:

• Design and manage relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
• Write efficient queries and optimize database performance.

DevOps and Deployment:

• Collaborate with DevOps to deploy applications in cloud environments

Testing and Debugging:

• Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure code quality.
• Debug and resolve application issues in a timely manner.

Preferred Qualification:

• Between 1-5 years experience
• B.S. or higher in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent work experience)
• Expertise in Java, React JS, HTML5
• Experience integrating with Restful web services
• Ability to establish trusted partnerships with product heads, and executive level stakeholders
• Comfortable with Agile Operating Models
• Experience with microservice based architecture
• Experience with Kafka, MongoDB, Spring, vert.X
