Our client, a well‑established company specialising in installation services, is seeking a skilled Junior Installation Engineer to join their team in Hertfordshire and London. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with hands‑on experience in installing enterprise‑level access control and CCTV systems to contribute to the company’s success.

Position Overview

As a Junior Installation Engineer you will play a crucial role in executing field work assigned by the Project Manager or Lead Technician Engineer. This position involves installing various components such as card readers, door contacts, control panels, cameras and network‑based devices. You will work closely with the commissioning team to ensure the successful programming and testing of complex systems.

Responsibilities
  • Perform basic installations of access control and CCTV components including card readers, door contacts, control panels and cameras.
  • Read and interpret design packs, layout plans and scope proposal documents.
  • Create field as‑built records and update drawings.
  • Troubleshoot using test equipment, meters, computers and software analysing devices.
  • Liaise with customers and stakeholders to coordinate site works.
  • Ensure adherence to the company’s installation and technical standards.
  • Support the commissioning team with programming and testing of complex systems.
  • Travel to sites to meet clients and build relationships.
  • Commission basic systems.
Requirements
  • Hands‑on experience installing enterprise‑level access control systems and CCTV / Video Management Systems.
  • Experience working in customers' live operational buildings and on construction sites.
  • Minimum of 1 year of field experience in installation works.
  • Good telephone and customer service skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Attention to detail with technical data (commissioning paperwork, as‑built records).
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer).
  • Suitable ECS and IPAF certification (desirable).
