With a strong presence in the Highlands and a commitment to continuous improvement, they’re now looking to welcome a Junior Food Technologist to their Technical Team on a maternity cover contract for approximately 9 months.

Please note: ‘Junior’ refers to role scope and experience level, not age — we welcome applicants of all ages and backgrounds.

This is a hands-on, detail-focused role ideal for someone with a science-based background and early experience in food manufacturing. You’ll be supported by a collaborative team and gain exposure to technical systems, audits and food safety processes in a fast-paced production environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

Working closely with the Technical Manager and wider team, you’ll help maintain and improve food safety and quality systems across the site. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting third-party audits and customer visits (e.g. BRC, Soil Association, RSPCA Assured)
  • Maintaining documentation and user access in QPulse
  • Assisting with supplier management and specification databases
  • Updating HACCP, VACCP and TACCP documentation
  • Providing traceability and sales reporting data
  • Conducting traceability exercises and mass balances
  • Supporting internal audits and recipe/GMP checks
  • Contributing to the Food Safety Culture Plan
What We’re Looking For

This role suits someone with a science-based qualification and at least 6 months’ experience in a food manufacturing environment. Fish processing experience is a bonus, but not essential.

Essential skills and attributes:

  • Level 2 Food Safety and HACCP (minimum)
  • Basic allergen awareness
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and internal systems
  • Flexible, thorough and team-oriented
Why Join?
  • Competitive salary of £26,000 per annum (pro rata)
  • Consistent daytime hours: 8am–4pm, Monday to Friday
  • Join a values-led, employee-owned business with a strong local presence
  • Collaborate across departments in a supportive, hands-on technical team
  • Play a part in sustainable food production right here in the Highlands

If you’re ready to build your technical career in a values-led food business, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now and take the next step with ProMatch.
