Job description

Junior Financial Surveillance Data Analyst
About us

At Insightful Technology, we build intelligent solutions that help organisations manage risk, protect data and stay compliant in an ever-changing world. Our products power global enterprises, financial institutions and regulated organisations.

If you want to be part of a team building extraordinary technical solutions in a compelling working environment where ideas move quickly, people support each other and innovation is part of everyday life, you’ll feel right at home here.

Role overview

Particularly during the initial stage of the role, your primary focus will be the daily review of financial surveillance alerts. You will assess and classify alerts, examine the relevant data and supporting information, document your findings and escalate matters that require further investigation.

As your knowledge and experience develop, the role will expand to include data tagging, model verification, client reporting, process documentation and participation in client calls.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional interested in financial markets, compliance, data analysis and machine learning.

Key responsibilities
  • Conducting the daily review, investigation and classification of financial surveillance alerts.
  • Examining alert data and supporting information to identify potentially unusual or suspicious activity.
  • Recording review outcomes accurately and escalating alerts that require further investigation.
  • Supporting consultancy work across exchanges, retail banks and private banks.
  • Reviewing and tagging data to support machine learning and surveillance model development.
  • Preparing detailed surveillance consultancy reports for clients using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Identifying relevant findings, trends and potential areas of concern within surveillance data.
  • Supporting quality-assurance testing and verifying the accuracy of machine learning and large language models.
  • Assisting with the preparation and validation of training data used to retrain and improve models.
  • Participating in client calls and communicating findings clearly and professionally.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation for surveillance processes, methodologies and internal procedures.
  • Working closely with the existing analyst and wider Insightful Technology team.
  • Suggesting practical ways to improve the efficiency, accuracy and quality of the I360 service.
  • Supporting other analytical and reporting activities as the consultancy function grows.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Holds an undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Is self-aware, emotionally intelligent and able to work effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Has strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Is proactive, curious and comfortable taking responsibility for their work.
  • Can organise and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced start-up environment.
  • Is willing to learn about financial markets, regulatory compliance and trade surveillance.
  • Is comfortable working with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Can handle sensitive client information with care and discretion.

Experience with SQL, Python or C# is desirable but not essential. Previous exposure to financial services, compliance, data analysis, machine learning or financial markets would also be beneficial.

Learning and Development

We are committed to helping our employees develop their skills and careers. You will receive an education budget each year, which can be used for relevant professional courses, certifications, technical training and other agreed learning opportunities.

You will also receive practical, on-the-job development through mentoring from the current analyst, exposure to client work and experience with financial surveillance and machine learning projects.
