Job description

We are in need of a highly motivated person to join our fast-paced sales department as a Junior Estimator. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing general estimating administrative tasks, assisting (eventually providing) cost estimates for construction projects, and must have excellent organisation skills, onsite training in all of our systems will be available. Our team is looking for someone capable of multi-tasking effectively and with a strong work ethic. This role will require regular interaction with sales representatives, designers, managers and clients, so we're looking for someone who has excellent interpersonal skills.

The role is based in our Scunthorpe offices (with on-site visits included), covering all aspects of tendering and estimating our project enquiries from across the UK.

General Roles & Responsibilities
  • Administrative Tasks, organising sales files, contacting / chasing client responses, and feedback.
  • Estimate material and labour cost requirements for tender enquiries.
  • Liaise day to day with operational (project managers) and purchasing (procurement) staff.
  • Formulate BOQs (bill of quantities) documents for tender / fixed proposals.
  • Evaluate the site and determine equipment / plant requirements, conduct measures etc.
  • Review and Understand market costs for materials, sub-contractors, labour, plant and consumables.
  • Complete measured take-offs to quantify materials, using in house software.
Qualitifications & Requirements
  • L2 or above BTEC Diploma in Construction / Engineering - preferred, not essential
  • 3 or more GCSE qualifications (including maths, English) - preferred
  • Driver's License - preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills with keen attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey information
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast paced environment
