Job summary

A leading game development studio in Liverpool seeks a Junior Environment Artist to create innovative visual experiences. You will be responsible for developing realistic props and textures while collaborating with the team to critique and refine your creations. The ideal candidate will have strong modelling skills, experience with software such as Maya and Substance, and a passion for artistic quality. This permanent full-time position provides ample opportunities for professional growth and development in a friendly and relaxed environment.

Climax Studios was established nearly 30 years ago, we have an extensive history in developing all kinds of digital experiences across all formats, and we have won multiple awards along the way. We have a state-of-the-art studio located in the heart of the beautiful Albert Dock in Liverpool overlooking the Harbour.

We are looking for a multi‑talented UK based Junior Environment Artist with the ability to conceive, create and contribute to the team creating innovative experiences via artistic visuals. Proven experience in generating realistic textures and props, technical expertise with current‑gen technology and / or illustration skills are certainly of benefit.

Responsibilities
  • Create optimized props, collision and LOD's to aid performance
  • Create AAA PBR materials and textures using Substance
  • Critique and iterate in a group
  • Follow and recreate established art styles
  • Reliably demonstrate an aptitude for the platform technology, asset discipline and pipeline processes
Qualifications
  • Solid experience creating realistic style props, substance material and texture creation
  • Creative and self‑motivated
  • Strong and versatile modelling skills
  • Experience using Maya
  • Experience using Substance
  • Experience using Blender
  • Extremely quality oriented
  • Some experience setting up LOD's
  • Strong verbal, written and visual communication skills
  • An artistic education to at least graduate level
  • Strong folio including examples of realistic modelling and environment
