Job summary

Oliver Valves Group in Knutsford is seeking a Junior Engineer to develop your career in product design, testing and manufacturing of ultra critical valves. You will gain hands-on experience across the full lifecycle from initial design through to manufacture and testing.

You will work with SolidWorks, learn material selection, and support with drawings, BOMs and technical records. A practical mindset, good communication and teamwork will help you thrive in our agile environment.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
• Familiarity with materials and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and developing industrial valves and components.
• Create and update 3D CAD models and drawings.
• Support material and component selection for different conditions.
• Perform basic engineering calculations under supervision.
• Assist valve assembly, pressure testing and performance evaluation.
• Provide technical queries support to Production on machining and drawings.
• Investigate product performance issues and defects.
• Update drawings, BOMs, and records after approved changes.
• Coordinate with Quality, Purchasing and suppliers on requirements.
• Contribute ideas to improve performance, reliability, manufacture, and cost.

What you’ll be doing

• Assisting with the design and development of industrial valves and components.
• Producing and updating 3D CAD models, component drawings and assembly drawings.
• Supporting the selection of materials, seals and components for different operating conditions.
• Carrying out basic engineering calculations under supervision.
• Assisting with valve assembly, pressure testing and performance evaluation.
• Supporting Production with technical queries relating to machining, assembly and drawings.
• Helping investigate product performance issues, manufacturing defects and customer technical queries.
• Updating drawings, bills of materials and technical records following approved engineering changes.
• Working with Quality, Purchasing and suppliers to clarify technical requirements.
• Contributing ideas to improve product performance, reliability, manufacture and cost.

What we’re looking for

You will have a basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials and manufacturing, together with a practical approach to solving problems and a willingness to learn.

You should also bring:

• Experience using SolidWorks or another 3D CAD package.
• Mechanical engineering or assembly experience.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
• Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel and other PC applications.
• A methodical approach and attention to detail.

Knowledge of machining processes, engineering tolerances and assembly methods would be useful. An interest in industrial valves, fluid control systems or precision engineering is welcome, but previous valve industry experience is not essential.
