Overview

A specialist engineering company providing advanced testing solutions to the automotive, aerospace, off-highway, and other high-tech industries is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects involving the design and development of cutting-edge electrical and automation systems. The role involves hands-on engineering work, including system design, component specification, site integration, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. The successful candidate will play an important role in delivering high-performance solutions across a variety of applications, including electric and hybrid vehicle technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Design of electrical systems including incoming power supply, distribution, HMIs, and control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations; implement safety interlocks and emergency shutdown systems.
  • Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation such as schematics, logic diagrams, and manuals.
  • Support and train operators and maintenance teams on system usage and upkeep.
  • Identify and implement improvements for cost, performance, and reliability.
  • Develop preventive maintenance strategies for automation and electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical/automation issues, perform root cause analysis, and apply corrective actions.
  • Assist in technical review of RFQs and system specification from customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with sales, project, production, and commissioning teams to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • UK and occasional overseas travel required for site work and customer support.

Job Requirements
  • A degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering.
  • Up to two years\' relevant industry experience (graduate level).
  • Experience with electrical design software (e.g., EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical).
  • Good understanding of component testing theory and hardware specification.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as NEC, ISO, and IEC.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence and valid UK passport.
  • Proficient in IT and general office tools.
  • Experience with UKCA/CE design processes.
  • Knowledge of SafeExpert, Beckhoff Automation, and ERP systems.
  • Exposure to EV or battery technologies.
  • Project management or mentoring experience.
  • Professional membership (e.g., IET or equivalent).
  • Ability to speak French, Italian, or German.
