The Role

Join the dynamic team at DeMellier as a Junior Leather Goods Designer, where you’ll play a crucial role in supporting our design team in developing exciting new designs. Your responsibilities will include conducting research, creating trials and mock‑ups, preparing overviews and tech packs, and refining specifications and proto comments. You should have strong technical insight and ideally 1–2 years of experience in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design
    • Supports in conducting design research both online, in libraries, and through vintage shopping
    • Proposes ideas for new designs, concepts, shapes, and details
    • Assists in making trials of design details and mock‑ups to visualise ideas
    • Handles design related errands
    • Assists in building and updating seasonal mood boards
  • Design Admin
    • Keeps all design information well organised and easily accessible on our systems
    • Maintains seasonal line sheets and overviews and ensures these are clearly communicated to all relevant cross‑functional teams
    • Supports with the creation of technical specs and proto comments using Illustrator
    • Helps with setting up design meetings, preparing samples and taking key notes
    • Ensures the design office and storage is always organised and tidy
  • Travel and Office Presence
    • Organises travel and represents the brand with professionalism, actively collaborating with pattern makers, account managers and other partners as needed
    • Comfortable with frequent travel, including at short notice, in line with business requirements
    • 4 days a week working from the office and 1 day from home
The Ideal Candidate
  • Must have right to work in the UK without limitations
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in Accessories Design
  • Fluent in English (a huge plus if you can speak & write Spanish).
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a similar position
  • Expert in using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Strong sketching skills in Illustrator and by hand
  • Experienced in creating trials and mock‑ups
  • Knowledgeable in accessories construction and pattern making
  • Proficient in developing technical specifications, proto comments, and overviews
  • Thrives on generating fresh design ideas and confidently contributes thoughtful suggestions
  • Communicates effectively across teams and stays composed while managing a demanding workload in a fast paced environment
  • Self motivated and organised, maintaining a tidy design workspace
  • Highly focused with strong attention to detail
  • Works independently with a structured approach and strong work ethic
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset and responds positively to constructive feedback to achieve strong design outcomes
